So, I´ve made a skirt. I bought the Patrones mag on monday, I traced and cut out the pattern pieces on wednesday, placed it onto a couple of my darlings worn-out jeans. It didn’t fit. So I thought to myself that I could make it out of a piece of striped fabric I had laying around. Yesterday I went to my local fabric supplier, for some notions and stuff, and right there in the pile of denim scraps, I saw the perfect piece for my skirt. So I had to buy it, in spite of the striped fabric I could have used. Oh, well. I cut out the pieces and…

I, off course,  immediately started to think about what I should make, and I made a sketch early this morning. Ali has suggested five essential garments for us to sew: Something pool – friendly – perhaps some kind of swimwear, or some kind of cover-up Something with legs – pants, shorts or something in between Skirt – a nice and lovely item, perhaps to wear together with a: Top – blouse, tee – whatever makes you happy Sundress – a fantastic piece that can be up- or down- dressed and finally Some kind…
Read MoreSo, when I am writing this, May is officially over. Its weird, it really felt like I was cheating when I put on other-made clothes this morning. I am truly pleased with the outcome of this months project. Not only have I become more aware of what I really wear, I have got a lot of inspiration and feedback from the other participants in MMM. It´s been a great way for me to get connected with other “sewing-fanatics”, it´s been so much fun! When the end of May was closing in, I began to worry about what to do next. But I did not need to despair – Ali came up…
Read MoreWow! May flies by so fast. What to do when June comes around? I have no idea. Or actually I do. I have started on a new project. I am organizing my wardrobe. There are some great topics on the discussion board over at Me-Made-May Flickr Group, and I have got a lot of inspiration for how I will go about with my continued crafting when Me-Made-May is over. Here are the highlights from week three: Day 21. We went to a Roy Hargrove concert here in Uppsala, the weather was amazing and the show as well, a great night! Day eighteen. Just a regular workday, but one of the first summer days here.…
Read MoreAs summer finally arrived I found it both more easy, and more difficult to find something to wear. I have a lot of clothes, sundresses and skirts for the summer, but not all of them are appropriate for daily use, some are too up-dressed, and some are too “beachy”. I made a couple of new items this week, mostly tops, as I absolutely needed something new in that part of my wardrobe. Still, I can´t seem to make things that really goes with the rest of my wardrobe. I loved Mena´s idea of planning a perfect wardrobe, and filling in the blanks as she goes. Maybe that´s an idea for…

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.
I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
