What I made this month: February´11

By Sølvi Elise | 12/03/2011
Simplicity 3503

This post is a wee bit late, but I didn´t have time until now to get somewhat decent pictures for this. I have been finishing off some stuff I have wanted to make for a long time, and I have made some stuff just for the fun of it! First and foremost: I have finally finished my swimsuit. This was originally a part of the Summer Essentials Sew-Along. The first version of this turned out too small, as the fabric I used didn´t have the same stretch as my muslin. you live and learn! The pattern for this is based on a pattern from patternschool.com. If you´re not familiar…

Springspiration

By Sølvi Elise | 03/03/2011

I love word games and puns. And I especially love to make new words out of two existing ones. Might be a teeny-tiny bit dorky, but hey – that is just the way I am… Take the words spring and inspiration. Springspiration.  I am really better at this in norwegian, for obvious reasons, but if I come across one I like, I´m not afraid to use it. Beware! So what is causing my dorkiness? Well, something as simple (yet ultra- chic and sophisticated) as the spring collection from Badgley Mischka. I won´t give you any teasing images here, the beauties deserve to be seen in their right element.…

Empire State of Mind

By Sølvi Elise | 17/02/2011

Today I got the final evidence of my new approach to clothing. I don´t know how it is everywhere else in the world, but here in Sweden you can become a member of hmclub, a bonus shopping program if you´re a regular shopper at H&M stores. Today, in my mailbox I found a letter from hmclub. It contained information about my shopping at H&M last year. On freedom.

By Sølvi Elise | 07/02/2011

A friend of mine and I were discussing the topic of choices, while we were out walking. For once the sun was out, and it was a perfect time to get some fresh air and meet some good friends. Needless to say, in most places of the world, freedom is viewed upon as a great thing. In fact, one of the most highly valued documents in the world is the UN´s  Universal Declaration of Human Rights, where the issue of freedom has a most important place.Tthe first article of this declaration is: “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and…

What I made this month: January

Ceylon shirt

First of all, sorry for not writing sooner, but I ´ve had a splitting headache most of the week, so I really needed to step away from the computer, and try to do other things instead. Now, you don´t have to feel sorry for me, because it´s all my own fault, not working out as I know I should. 🙂 But, as part of my new and better life, I want to keep you updated on what I´ve been doing the last month. So I will try to have a new blog post every month (that I have something to show you), to give you a glimpse of what I´ve…

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects  and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.

I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
