If you are wondering about the recent radio silence from this channel, then let me explain why, using pictures. I went to a city where the ceilings looked like this: where doors and walls looked like this: and where cats could be found laying like this: A place where the food and drinks were delicious: and where tea could be had while enjoying a view like this : Did I mention the tiles? Here, I´ll show you some: Alas though, the trip ended with this: But not to worry, the medical care in the country is excellent, having an ancient history to fall back on. But because of this…
Read MoreRemember this post? No? I don´t blame you, it´s been over a year. BUT I´ve finally finished my plaid half-circle skirt! That´s why I call it a FFO – a Finally Finished Project. The irony here is that making a circle skirt really doesn´t take a lot of time. But you know, winter came and went, all of a sudden it was summer, and I didn´t really feel the need for a flanell skirt, if you can imagine! đ But now I do, so I sat down a couple of nights last week and stitched together this little number. Nothing really fancy construction wise, just a lining, and pockets in…
Read MoreI have recently discovered a wonderful way of using my iPad for knitting, and thought I’d share it with other iPadders out there. I am currently knitting the Selbu Modern hat, a Christmas present. The pattern is not one easily remembers, and I need to look at the pattern quite regularly. Although there are a number of apps out there, ready to help the knitter with counting, diagrams and so forth, I have always felt a need for the actual printed pattern when it comes to knitting techniques like Fair Isle, lace and cables. This is because I like to scribble down my own notes right there in…
Read MoreA good friend of mine is getting married in November, and I really want to make a new dress for that event. Believe it or not, I don´t really have any winter appropriate party dresses, and you never know how the weather will be in November. Especially in a chilly church. Before we moved, a friend of mine in Uppsala gifted me with a piece of fabric that had belonged to her late mother. Now, her mother used to work as a seamstress, teaching sewing to students, so the quality of the fabric is just wonderful. It´s a navy blue velvet, and I don´t bother taking a picture…
Read MoreHello hello! Can you believe it? I have another FO to show you! This is a dress that´s been finished a while, but I haven´t had the chance to take any decent photos of it until now. This dress goes under the name The Dissertation Party Dress.  Back in May, my darling defended his PhD- thesis, and it is tradition for the new doctor to hold a black tie party for his closest co-workers, friends, family and so. I, of course knew I had to make a dress for the occasion but I didn´t want it to be too dressy, as my man isn´t a black tie- event kind…

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.
I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
