Almost an outfit. Most definitely a Sewalong.

By Sølvi Elise | 23/01/2013

Just so you know, this post is lenghty. 🙂 What went wrong with this outfit?  Can you spot what´s wrong with this outfit? (Except for the fact that it is in no way weather appropriate right now up here).  No? Let me help you:       The shirt So. Most everything that could go wrong, went wrong with this shirt. But – I have not given up. I will learn from my mistakes, and make another version, because I love the idea of this shirt. You see, this shirt has been in my mind for years. The most observant amongst you might recognize the pattern from Zoe´s…

Aidez.

aidez knit cardigan

More or less one year after I started it, I finished the chunky and cabled cardigan Aidez designed by Cirilia Rose. With 2551 finished projects in Ravelry´s database, this is one POPULAR cardigan. This is my first major cabled project, I have knitted some mittens and stuff with smaller patches of cables, but this one consists mainly of cables. I have to say that it wasn´t at all especially difficult. The Christmas Dress, or and update on the Blue Velvet Dress.

By Sølvi Elise | 09/01/2013

Do you remember the navy blue velvet dress I was about to make back in …ehem…September? Well, turns out, Vogue 8280 wasn´t really for me. Because this was a style of dress I hadn´t tried out before, I decided to make a trial dress. A wearable muslin if you will. The pattern was great, and I had no trouble following the instructions. I LOVE this dress!”- feeling that I think…

2012. A review.

By Sølvi Elise | 17/12/2012

This is just a little year-in-review from me. I want to take the opportunity to thank everyone who reads this blog, and especially to all of you who take the time to comment. And I want to wish you all the best of times now that we are approaching the holiday season! Have fun and enjoy the holidays wherever you are!  I´ve been wearing this skirt and cowl A LOT! I just love the little sparkle the yellow cowl gives any outfit on a dark winter day, and the skirt couldn´t be more cozy.  Did you know that this blog has existed, in one form or another since…

By Sølvi Elise | 06/12/2012

First of all, thank you all so much for the lovely comments on my last post, I am certain that my finger healed faster because of it!  And, Debbie, Stacy, Dilly, Kristin and Zoe were right, I went to Istanbul! I can truly recommend it. Glorious place. I am slowly getting back into my old habits of things, I wish I could have commented more on all of your blogs more frequently, but I can only say that you all have been making lots of great stuff! 🙂 I´ll soon be back with some FO´s, but until that please head over to Rhinestones and Telephones where I wrote…

Sølvi Elise is wearing a selfmade shirt and heavy glasses

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects  and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.

I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
