Lemon Sorbetto

First of all,  thank you everyone for your kind words on my last post.  Maybe a clichĂŠ,  but I now feel,  much more than before,   a compassion for,  and a relation to the people in our world who are suffering and experiencing mindless violence every day of their lives.  My heart goes out to all of you. With that said,  I will now continue to post on a more regular basis than I have been the previous months.  Summertime for me involves such a different way of living than the rest of the year,  so I apologize that my blogging has been sparse. I have,  however,  been sewing.  And thinking…

I´m alright.

By Sølvi Elise | 23/07/2011

I know it´s been a while since I last posted anything,  and yesterday I was planning a catch-up post,  joking about reporting that I´m alive,  and well. Little did I know about today´s dramatic events here in little Norway. So instead of showing you what I´ve been up to the last month,  sewing wise,  I just want to let you know that I´m alright,  and so is my immediate family and friends. My brother works just a block away from where the explosions went off in Oslo today,  so his day was spent helping those who needed help. Stash bustin´: an update.

By Sølvi Elise | 15/06/2011

I gave myself some openings, because I knew that I was traveling to some of the worlds fabric Mecca´s. Six months into the challenge, and what have I learned? It´s hard not…

A little tip.

By Sølvi Elise | 08/06/2011

I just wanted to share a video with you today that I watched the other day on the Swedish television. It´s an hour long plunge into the archives of the Swedish broadcasting network (SVT) focusing on fashion and looks from 1900-1990. Even though the speaker talks in swedish, there are so much wonderful video clips and footage here of fashions from the past, that I think it will be of interest even though the language is foreign. Please let me know if the link works, I´m not sure that it works outside of Scandinavia. Enjoy!

It seems that, indeed, I can make a jacket in three days. I just layed the finishing touches on my jacket, and I promise you I will fill you in in more details when my head gets better, but for now a sneek peek:

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects  and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.

I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
