For the last couple of months I have been slacking off in my photo documentation of finished projects, so I thought I´d share it all with you today instead. Oh, and Happy New Year! This is my New Years Eve dress. AKA the Christmas Dress. AKA the oldest UFO in the history of mankind.  Pattern is Burda WOF 125-11-2007, and it´s a reprint of a vintage pattern from 1958. It´s got kimono sleeves with gussets. Geez. I´m glad I didn´t actually try to sew this one up in 2007. Because that would have been a small catastrophe, I´m sure! This is part of the Hepburn Hepburn project and My…
Read MoreScore! It seems that my favorite local fabric shop could sense that I´d just bought a serger, because when I went there today, just to pick up some fabric for Christmas presents, there were a myriad of cute knit fabrics in the discount department! So I brought some of them home with me. Some are for me, some are for others. Stay tuned! đ My favorite of them all. Have you seen anything cuter, ever?
Read MoreCan you believe it? I have got myself a serger! Yay! I´ve been saving up for this for quite a while now, and finally, the day came when I could go out and buy this beauty. She´s a pre-loved Husqvarna Huskylock 910, and great things have been said about her at Pattern Review. One of my local sewing machine shops have an updated online list over used sewing machines they are selling, and this beauty had been on the list for quite a while. Yesterday, I went out to see if she was still there, I even got nervous that everybody else out on the streets of Uppsala was…

I have tons of projects to show you, I´ve finished some knitting projects, I´ve made two dresses for myself, the muslin for my friends dress, almost finished a pencil skirt and started on the shirt I am making for my darling this Christmas. One of the few evidences of my recent craftiness. I´ve also written a lengthy  blog post about dressing in the winter. But, I keep forgetting to take pics in the few hours the sun is up. And then it really gets completely dark. Arrgh! So…
Read MoreThis in one of those days that just turns out completely different than you think. I was off in the morning to take the train to Stockholm. I needed to go to the Norwegian embassy, because I need a new passport. My old passport doesn’t expire until 2012, but I am going to New York (yaaaay! Museums! Art! Fabric shooooppiiiing!!!!), and I suspect my old handwritten non-electronic passport wouldn’t take me anywhere outside of Europe. And absolutely not through the hermetically sealed  borderline of the US (no offense, americans ;-)). Version 1, 2 and 3. What should I do? But, the train I was going to take, and the next one were full, and after embarking the third train,…

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.
I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
