Tulle pom poms

By Sølvi Elise | 28/01/2011

Going through my blogroll this morning, there were so many inspirational creations all around, that I had to make something to brighten up our living room. Pronto! So I scrolled through my inspiration folder, and remembered this picture from design sponge. I googled “how to tulle pom pom”, and found this tutorial over at oncewed, and off I went. These pom poms are so easy to make, just follow the instructions! And they fit into my stash busting challenge perfectly. The tulle is leftover scraps from my tulle petticoat I made back in July. Instant gratification!

Spring Palette 2011

By Sølvi Elise | 27/01/2011

On my little trip to Paris last weekend, I came over these gorgous summery cottons, at Coupons de St. Pierre. I have them near my desk, so I can look at them from time to time – and at the same time listen to music for an upcoming concert one of my choirs are having in May – the theme is music from all over the world, and I get so happy and just want to dance when I listen to this music! Well, on a similar topic, I have just posted my Spring Palette over at the Colette forum. Great initiative from Sarai, don´t you think? Here is…

So, what´s next?

By Sølvi Elise | 26/01/2011

Last years challenge was an eye-opening experience for me, and over all, I think I did good. But I am really just now beginning to take control over the hardest part, and that is the desire for new things. Ali, of the wardrobe, reimagined, wrote a insightful post about this topic all the way back in June. Read it, if you haven´t, it is soo good! For me, it seems like it always comes back to this: I really don´t need new stuff, but I still want it. One of my best friends lives in Paris, France, and last weekend I had the opportunity to visit her, and at the…

Madeleine bloomers

In trying to be better at updating you whenever I´ve made something new, I´ll give you a quick post here showing you what I did yesterday. It´s not entirely clear to my why I havent made the Madeleine mini bloomers yet. They are, after all, both super cute, designed at Colette´s and free! The only alteration I did was using elastic lace for the waistband instead of ordinary elastic. I made mine in some leftover soft cotton fabric I had, from making PJ´s for my darling for Christmas, so now we have matching pants! Unfortunately is he unavailable for photos at the moment (believed to be somewhere over the Atlantic…

2010 – my challenge in review

By Sølvi Elise | 16/01/2011

2010 was the year where I decided it was time to stop spending on clothes, and spend more time sewing.  About a year ago I decided to not buy anything new. This would allow me to: I will be more creative – since I can’t buy new clothes, I will have to make them myself instead if I “need” anything new. Hopefully, I will find what part of my wardrobe I actually use, and the part that is still hanging there unused by the end of the year I will give away. I will have more money to spend on charity, and I hope to be able to…

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects  and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.

I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
