BurdaStyle Magazine 06-2008-108

Avaliability: This is a BurdaStyle Magazine pattern from the June 2008 issue. Pattern number 108. Pattern type: Shirtdress Rating: Highly recommend. Pattern Description: Shirtdress pattern with elastic waist and darts both in the front and the back. Knee length. Pattern Sizing: Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yup. Except for the obvious difference that I omitted the sleeves…;-) Technical drawing of the dress. Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn´t have any trouble following the instructions, although I must admit that I usually use my Vogue Sewing book when I am attaching collars. What did you particularly like…

Pattern Review: New Look 6000

New Look 6000

One of the best things about the sewing community is, in my opinion, pattern reviews. I love the fact that I can visit PatternReview, BurdaStyle, My Sewing Circle or the vintage pattern wiki and find out whether a pattern is worth making or not. So in an effort to try and contribute more frequently to that community myself, I will post reviews of patterns I have used, and add them to PR as well. My ambition is to add at least one review per week. We´ll see if I manage to do just that! 🙂  New Look 6000  Pattern Description:  Misses’ retro style dress with front, sleeve and neck…

The challenge of Me-Made.

By Sølvi Elise | 18/08/2011

Hello folks, today I want to let you know that: ‘I, Sølvi of delfinelise sign up as a participant of Self-Stitched-Sept ’11. I endeavour to wear only self-stitched and refashioned clothing each day for the duration of September 2011’  Me-Made June was for me a difficult month to document, as I was visiting friends and family, traveling, and not have much time for the Flickr group. But I DID wear Me-made´s all month. And that is one thing that is so great about this challenge, you can easily make it fit your lifestyle, to participate in the online discussions and groups are optional! But with that said, I absolutely…

The skirt that isn´t a Beignet.

By Sølvi Elise | 16/08/2011
BurdaStyle 03-2009-111

It´s high waisted.  It´s got buttons down the front,  it´s knee length.  But.  It´s not a Beignet.  Can you believe it? I wanted to make a A-line version of the Beignet, so I turned to old trusded Burda magazine and there I stumled upon pattern number 03-2009-111. It´s not lined, and it´s only got four pattern pieces.  It is supposed to be A-line, although my version isn´t really representative for that style. I think my fabric choice, a stretchy denim material, wasn´t perfect for that, but I like it anyways. Although I didn´t think of it at the time I chose the material and the wooden buttons, I…

Sølvi Elise is wearing a selfmade shirt and heavy glasses

Hi there! I´m Sølvi Elise. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. This is a space where I share my craft projects  and thoughts and ideas concerning handmade in a consumerist world.

I live in Oslo, Norway where I use my spare time stitching up my own wardrobe. So far, I´d say that 80 % of my closet is filled with me-mades. I also have an interest in historical sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, leatherwork, tablet weaving, rigid heddle loom- weaving, cocktails, jewelry making, makramÊ, shoe making, drawing, paper craft, machine knitting and generally any craft that looks like fun.
