Happiness is…
First of all: Thank you all so much for the lovely comments on my birthday! They all made me smile when I read them. 🙂
I am happy. I am beyond happy. Â Thrilled! And excited!
Is it because Me-Made-June is drawing closer?
Although that will be a lot of fun, that is not the main reason today.
Is it because Ali has decided to host another Summer Essential Sew-Along, this time together with Sarah and Alessa?
Although I am very excited about this – it´s going to be so much fun this year too, I am sure!  But even that´s not what made me this excited.
Is it because the weather is gorgeous and I am finished with some major tasks at work, giving me more spare time for reading and sewing?
Not really the reason either.
Is it because I, for the first day in a week neither have a headache nor a throat and mouth resembling an open wound, and I actually had energy to go for a teeny tiny walk today?
Nope. That´s not it either.
So, what is it then?
Drumroll…………………Tada:
Audrey in Unst is finally finished! Yaaay! I started to work on Audrey back in July last year, and thought she would be perfect for summer evenings in August. Then I thought, well, Self- Stitched September, that is my goal. But then, all of a sudden, September was over, and the worst winter I´ve seen came some time around October, and stayed until March, leaving no room for nice cotton cardigans. So I didn´t finish her for Me-Made-March either.
Then, last week I caught a cold. And from Sunday on I had a fever, leaving me in a state where knitting was my only option to sleep. So knit I did. And I knitted and knitted. And then, early this morning, I finally finished off the last few loose ends, and I took her for a walk. She´s not blocked yet, and therefore have no buttons. I´m giving her a proper wash first, as she´s befriended some Kid Silk on her journey. Some light blue kid silk. Not pretty on her sleek, black surface.
So that´s what all the excitement is about. A finished knitting project. And, might I add,  the finalization of the Hepburn/Hepburn project. And I finally have that black cotton cardigan I´ve been dreaming about for years.
So pretty! Congratulations on finishing this, it looks great. This cardigan pattern keeps popping up on various sites I visit…maybe it’s a sign that I should add it to my Ravelry queue?
Hooray! What is it about Audrey that inspires this feeling of reaching the end of a marathon…?! Well done! Now you are free to knit something else! Probably not in black cotton. Oh – and it looks lovely! I bet you want to wear it every day!
It’s adorable & makes me wish I could knit better. Something I may tackle in the near future. Your outfit is so very pretty 🙂
Love it!!! I’m happy it’s almost me-made-June too!!
congratulations on finishing the audrey and knitting the perfect black cotton cardi!
Congratulations!! It looks great. Talk about staying power with a project, I bet you’ll use it loads 🙂 So glad you’re in the sew-along this year!
Congrats! That’s a very pretty cardi! Also, welcome to the Summer Essentials Sew-along this year! I’m looking forward to see what projects you come up with. 🙂
Hurray! Well done, it looks so great! It was worth the long time spent on it, wasn’t it@?
Thanks! Absolutely worth the time, yup. 🙂
Love the cardi. And your sun hat looks great too. I am just catching up onreading your posts. So belated happy birthday greetings to you. I am so taken with your traid shoes, just gorgeous. Very tempted to get some. 🙂
Thanks Debbie, I am still breaking the shoes in, they are a bit small in the size, but I think it´ll be alright because the inside is made of suede. It´s just a matter of time and blisters….;-)
So pretty Solvi!
O lykke! En norsk blogger som syr noe annet enn velourkjoler med raglanermer! Jeg tror jeg dør hvis jeg ser en velourkjole til, og er på jakt etter mer skreddersydd inspirasjon. Takk for fin blogg!
Haha!
Yay!!!!!!!! Congrats! It looks beautiful, I’m in total awe of your knitting prowess. Sorry to hear it took illness to provide the opportunity to get it finished though. Happy belated birthday, welcome to the 30’s crew!
You asked about my project where I’m making stuff for my friend, yours sounds so exciting too! Funny that we are both doing the same thing. We must have lots of good sewing-karma heading our way!
Regarding fit, I have my friends measurements, which are fairly similar to mine, though overall her shape is quite different, but it gives me enough of an idea what will roughly fit. I’m not attempting anything too precisely fitted. Slightly fitted T-shirts and stuff shold be fine. I think I might make her a very fitted dress at some point, but only if she is coming to the UK and I can get a fitting done.
Good luck with your projects, can’t wait to see what you come up with next
